After four exciting days of competition at the Cascais Women’s Pro and EDP Billabong Pro Cascais two lay days have been called with only small surf on offer at Carcavelos and more swell on the way.
“We have decided to call the event off today and tomorrow,” Jessi Miley-Dyer, WSL Deputy Commissioner said. “At this point in the event we can afford to be more picky and wait for better conditions. Things are looking promising next week so we’ll come back on Monday to take a look and make the next call.”
Event organizers will reconvene at 7:45 a.m. local time on Monday morning at Carcavelos to assess conditions and make the next call.
Surfline, official forecaster for the EDP Billabong Cascais 2017 and the Cascais Women’s Pro, are calling for:
New NW swell builds into Guincho rest of today into Saturday with solid overhead sets, but expect strong northerly winds to rise up as well (Carcavelos will remain small). Another WNW swell is due for October 3rd-4th with head-overhead sets for Guincho and improved conditions (a little more size showing for Carcavelos as well on this pulse).
The Cascais Women’s Pro runs in conjunction with the Men’s QS 10,000 event, the EDP Billabong Pro Cascais 2017.
The events will be broadcast LIVE via WorldSurfLeague.com, the WSL app and on Facebook LIVE via the WSL’s Facebook page.
